Granny Mae's Christmas play

was presented to our Church last night by the Senior Adult group known as the Jolly elders.....and jolly they were.

If you didn't get a chance to come, you missed out on laughter for a lifetime!

For just over a month , we had met every Tues. to get this program together. The book made it very easy by giving hints and etc. I gave out parts and off we went. The closer to the date we got, the more into the play they got. By the time last night came around, the Jolly Elders were like little children, wondering who and how many would come to see them. The story goes like this: The family gathers at granny mae's for Christmas dinner, but she wants them to put on a play before they eat. They start in the kitchen, then to the bedroom where "Joseph" slept, then back through the kitchen to the garage, where baby Jesus was born. Then granny mae leads them outside where the angels, sheep and shepherds meet up, then back to the garage to see the baby, then back to the kitchen for dinner and hot chocolate, all the while explaining the birth of Christ.

Time came for the big production and there was laughter from start to finish. There was "granny mae".....

she insisted the family put on a Christmas play before sitting down for Christmas dinner. There was "grampa joe", who also played the cow part (in yellow shirt)......

Angel Gabriel also appeared (blue halo) with his famous "TaDa" lines as he appeared each time.....

You can also see "Joseph" in the above picture sitting on his "bed".

"Mary" had a big part... as you can see she is "riding" the "donkey" being lead by "Joseph" to "Bethlehem" where baby Jesus was born.

Angels, sheep and shepherds showed up to see what was going on. Angel Gabriel also directed us in our singing Christmas songs.

while the sheep and shepherds look on.

In closing "granny mae" asked the congregation to sing silent night with us and we closed with prayer, where we all gathered in the fellowship hall for finger foods and a surprise!

We were thrilled to have the fellowship hall FULL of folks! Santa was suppose to have come visit, but he was tied up in Jackson so he sent his main, no. 1 elf and his elf in training.

They brought presents for everyone, but the main elf said the only problem was he knew who was naughty or nice but the elf in training, well she didn't have a clue.

A great time was had by all.....

and we, the Jolly Elders, were thrilled to have so many come out and see the hard work we had put forth to bring the Christmas story, with a little laughter, to our Church.

The Jolly Elders are a joy to work with. As I was sitting down eating last night with everyone, one of them asked, "well, what will we do next year?", and another asked me this morning the same thing....can you believe it?! I guess it comes with having so much fun being together and being able to laugh and have a good time in Jesus name and bringing that to others....just as we all should do.

Have a FUN filled day in Christ!

God bless........
