It's getting that time of year again! What am I talking about? Maybe this will refresh your memory.

LOVE BUG SEASON! By the time I grabbed my camera his partner was gone. It's funny how they are so very irritating the whole loooong time they are here, but as soon as they are gone, I forget all about them....till the next year! No one knows what the Love Bugs purpose here on earth is, and you can bet the whole time they are around that will be a continuous question we ask/say to others. That will be the #1 conversation we will all have in common. As I write this I wonder, with all the thoughts on the purpose of the "love bugs", do we truly know what OUR purpose is? Do we talk about it with others as much as we discuss the little bug? Do we also think about our purpose only when something reminds us of it, like a revival, then we forget all about it when it's gone...till the next year?

What is our purpose......

Romans 8:29.....For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers.

Study Note: God's ultimate goal for us is to make us like Christ (1 John 3:2). As we become more and more like Him, we discover our true selves, the persons we were created to be. How can we be conformed to Christ's likeness? By reading and heeding the Word, by studying His life on earth through the Gospels, by being filled with His Spirit, and by doing His work in the world.

Maybe when the love bugs are out and about again, we will be reminded of our own purpose, to be more like Christ. With this comes the practice of His character traits, which is called the Fruit of the Spirit....GALATIANS 5: 22-23...But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace , patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.

Maybe instead of complaining about "What could possibly be the purpose of these love bugs?", what better time to think of our own purpose. What better time to practice these traits, than when the love bugs are back testing our every being : )
