From all the green writing and the shamrocks, there could only be one reason....ST. PADDY'S DAY PARADE! We know it isn't St. Patrick's day...that's next week...but due to Spring Holidays next week the Parade was held today! The Lions Club started this parade last year and it receives some of it's working funds to help provide others with eye glasses to many other things. It has turned out to be a very fun time for lots of folks.......especially the Jolly Elders! Here's a few of us beginning to bring the float to life.....
Beads were hung on the side of the trailer.....streamers were added to wire to make the rainbow for our pot of gold.
Well there it is! I just don't think it can get much better than this......
Uh, but then again......maybe it can!!!
The only thing possible to add life to the rainbow is the smiles on the faces of the Jolly Elders. It was a very hot day, at least when you were stirring around like crazy...but they just continued like busy bee's.
Frogs even enjoy a good time... They showed up, found themselves a seat and took a ride down the parade route with us! That's king frog on the front with the 2 princess frogs on the roof. You've heard the saying, "Look what the dogs drug up ".........
It did just keep getting better and better!
Mr. Mark enjoyed sporting "hair" again! Doesn't he look the coolest of cool?! The group was chillin after preparing the float, before making the ride down main street....
Irish songs were sung....well, just during our practice run....they placed the drummers 2 doors down from us so needless to say, our voices could not compete with that. None the less, beads were thrown, bags of candy were hurled into the air....landing just past the float at times, but their laughter and smiles reached to the furthest of folks in the crowd.
After the parade I had so many younger people express to me how much of an inspiration the Jolly Elders are to them. They all hope to be able to enjoy life as they do when they grow older....they want to be a Jolly Elder when they grow up!
Lord, Please continue to use us to be a witness to others, that they may see that the love of life comes from you...no matter what your age.
